Second Annual Insurance Agency Partnership Food Drive Completed

Rainbow International of Grundy County hosted its second annual Insurance Agency Partnership Food Drive to help community members in need.

BEAMAN, IA. - March 25, 2016 - On Friday, Rainbow International of Grundy County and all of their local insurance agencies partners in Blackhawk, Bremer, Butler, Franklin, and Hardin counties finished their second annual Insurance Agency Partnership Food Drive.

Rainbow International hosted the Food Drive to raise food donations for community members in need this spring.  They partnered with the following insurance agencies to collect food and non-perishable item donations in the community from Feb 29th to Mar 18th 2016. Their goal was to collect over 300 lbs of food this season to the over 19,000 food insecure families located in the collection counties.
The totals finally came in!!  Rainbow International announced they, with the help of all of the wonderful people at the participating insurance agencies, were able to collect a little over 175lbs of food and non-perishable items. All of the food collected in each county was dispersed to county food banks such as the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, Bremer County Community Action, Aplington Parkersburg Food Pantry, Ackley Food Pantry, and the Hardin County Food Shelf. Each food pantry was incredibly appreciate to receive the donation as donations amounts are lower than average this time of year.
"It was deeply gratifying to work with such great agencies that put so much time and effort into helping others" says Becky Posusta, BDA for Rainbow International of Grundy County. "Unfortunately we didn't have as much community participation as we did during our first food drive and we are looking into alternative methods of promoting our food drive in the community. We want to do whatever we can to make this a success for our agents and community members in need."
The following insurance agencies graciously offered to get the word out and to collect items.
